Plodding storylines, mumbling dialogue, apathetic acting, such a sad offering.

Verified purchase

There are countless reviews of this movie and there seem to be some consistent themes that I feel really hurt the potential here.

1) Too many storylines going at once that had no necessary intersection with all other. Searching for magical creatures to make over a zoo-in-a-subject is its own story; Grindelwald and the Obscurial is its ain story. Each of these could have happened without any need for the former.
2) Actor choices could have been improved. I could not understand or hear many of the lines delivered by the first actor because they were mumbled. The director should have leaded this and redone the scenes. Also I don't enjoy actors who full point their head's toward the ground while they are acting. It constricts the throat, we tin can't hear what they are saying, and we can't see their mouths move to try and decipher what they are saying. It also gets tiresome looking at someone superficial at the ground.
3) So much potential with the Obscurial and we got almost zero information about how it happens, why information technology happens, wherefore it happened to this character, etc. Information technology's briefly mentioned that it's when someone tries to keep their magical powers or suppresses them, merely based on the destructive drive we saw in this movie the Obscurial is more powerful than Voldemort or Dumbledore or anything we saw in the HP movies, and it should have been a Practically bigger peck.
4) Exposition - I am not a fond fan of the broad monologues that are overly dramatic and don't move the storyline overfamiliar. The ending when Grindelwald in disguise is on the train platform lecturing...get along it!
5) Get on with information technology! In general! The picture show was an hour too long...I'm not even sure that anything of relevance happened within the offse hour of the movie other than setting skyward the third storyline that I didn't even observe yet and that's the love storey with the telepathist and the muggle. Third picture right in that respect - or at any rate a short fib.

The movie suffered from lack of an skilled worker eye on the playscript, and lack of a directorial eye on the implementation.

Information technology is last that I will watch the continuation given how rough the foremost was. It's sad really - because IT held absolutely nothing of the magic and hazard that we sawing machine from the Harry Potter adaptations.

Fun for both Beset Potter newbies and longtime fans

Fantastic! Our family has loved the Harry Muck aroun books for years, merely the films, while well-done, never quite an matched the pic in my head of certain story elements.
Grand Beasts and Where to Find Them is not burdened by a lot of source material (on the far side the "textbook") to muddy the waters. Just lovely to see an unforeseen backstory that (eventually) ties into the Harry Potter series without having a predetermined image in my mind of the characters or how the plot was handled/interpreted by the film makers. Also adds depth to our understanding of the background in the main Harry Potter canon. Looking forward to revelations Eastern Samoa the remaining adventures unfold in future films.
I've also found that this film is much easier to lear with those who aren't familiar with the Harry Potter series arsenic it truly is a charming, stall alone report.

Substantiated purchase

This review is for Fantastic Beasts..not sure why the reviews for the Harry Potter Localize are mixed in with these, kind of irritation. Anyway, I love this movie! Not as much going happening visually every bit in the Horsepower movies only still selfsame pleasurable. What I love about this picture show are the actors and the Beasts. Eddie Redmayne, Alison Sudol and particularly Dan Folgler (which was sort of surprising) successful me love life their characters. The visual effects were super and the music was beautiful. I have watched this flic, literally, 20 times and I still cry at the oddment! 😁

Cute story with one Big Flaw

Verified purchase

Well, its in reality quite a fun story with some interesting eye candy. I love the main eccentric and the impermanent is pretty good. But there was this underlying motif progressive theme that precisely didn't add up. In Europe today you can literally be jailed for sharing your public opinion on mixer media, yet the movie portrayed America as being the oppressive force! That got a bite ridiculous and really successful the picture hard to watch in certain points. Everyone here can still voice their opinion and non do pokey prison term for whatsoever happens to pique person, so to see the picture portray the United States of America as more oppressive than the british was quite a shocker - I have friends in Europe who enjoin ME every the time how there is no freedom of speech over there so, yeah kind of a smut to see this docket pushed in an otherwise creative movie.

Gratifying

Verified purchase

I don't sleep with wherefore there is wholly this kvetching going astir this moving picture because I found it thoroughly pleasant. In the end we watch in that location IS a magic school hither in the USA in the Harry Potter human race and the fact this takes place in the 1920's gives it a flair for yesteryear. I know Potter Purists thumb their noses at it but well Pfffft their release. I for one am glad Ms. Rowling took the accidental to write or so Potter's cosmos and flesh it out more. THIS is what I wish would happen in other genres of fiction I savour such as Star Trek, Stargate, etc. which perform not have to be set in the same time line as the chief characters of the stories we love rather let the authors develop other characters and flesh them call at side novels, novellas and short stories also A films and TV shows.

I guess what I like about this is the way Newt goes about collecting endangered animals and as an animal lover I cannot see how anyone could down this shoot just because there's not Putter operating theatre Moldyvort in it. Meh. They had their time and they are finished. Perhaps Ms. Rowling will write roughly Potter's kids in the future merely I trust she finds other wizards and witches in her world to write about. Maybe even do a series on how Hogwarts came about?

Regardless this is a Amusive shoot and the action is good, from time to tim though it fanny be a bit slow however so much is to be expected in these fantasize films. Overall I recommend it to anyone who enjoys mythology, zoology and sick wizards. ;)

Other model of Hollywood sexualizing our children

Verified purchase

If you ingest been blinded past hollywood's core documentary - to desensitize us to everything sex, so the door for darker things are easily accepted, then this recap is non for you, and I refer you to the relation practices of adolph hitler. If you are of the Christian organized religion, and hush think "what's the big mete out", I refer you to The Revelation of John, chapter 3, verses 15-16. If, however, you infer the pervasive darkness and it's objective, you'll discovery my review helpful.

This could've been so much better. What an utter letdown. As a Chevvy Potter fan, I was looking forward to this movie. The plot was left to the sidelong to make board for: couples relationship drama, verbal and visual sexual innuendos and themes, and a fantastic beast in "season" World Health Organization "needs to be mated". I could happen as there is, yes, more. It leaves you with an overall feeling of, why? This movie failed on a massive scale. The only part worth watching was the end. It never kit and boodle when you mix a children's movie with sex. It goes against nature and speaks mountains about those involved. I have not translate the Holy Scripture, but if this is the content in information technology, I am nobelium longer a JK Rowling lover.

Looks like Bogus/Counterfeit

Verified purchase

I'll preface this by saying i'm pretty in tune to receiving expected fake products from Amazon. This being my 3rd. I purchased this DVD forthwith following Prime of life day, "Ships and sold by Amazon.com". I as wel bought 2 other dvds during the sale. First thing that threw Pine Tree State off even in front first step was the shoddiness of the case, especially compared to the 2 other (legitimise) dvds I conventional. However the outside of the case looked the likes of normal cover. Upon initiatory there was a bad plastic smell, and zero merchandising Oregon insert material within the case -- see pictures attached. And the part that held the videodisk had none back, soh the traverse and dvd actually touch and you could stick your fingers through. The dvd appeared to be a burnt disc. I dependable playing it Eastern Samoa I was curious, and although information technology did play fine (1:1 re-create of real movie, with piracy messages -- go figure--and all). Overall a decent knockoff simply I couldn't stomach keeping a counterfeit production. Amazon obviously commingled their stock-take with a 3rd party (no good) trafficker. I bear requested a return, but if Amazon surgery the manufacturer representative reads this - happy to allow whol info I took down to try and identify the counterfeit manufacturer.

Harry Potter only not Hassle Potter

Supported buy in

Firstly, I hate these movies. But I am comparison them to others in the Harry Potter population and realise my expectations are unreasonable because of this.
There are epic poems and ballads that are retold for centuries, and in that respect are limericks, belik also with similar staying power. While they're both poetry it's unfair to compare them. So I will not be so cruel as to do that with my quality star topology rating. Withal, I will detail what my issues are.
The entrance and wonder of the Harry Potter franchise is sorely lacking. Magic abounds but it's more mundane, adult, darker, and doesn't really have some of the passion that we find in the more youth-oriented edition. One of the first wizardly things we visit is a woman getting dressed, and her listening the thoughts of the man observation her. Child misuse is a theme in both series, but present we fix something more visceral, equally well as a supposed deliverer who is aware of the problem merely doesn't do anything to for good solve IT through wizardly OR non-magical avenues. It's hard to look at her As a hero for being aware of a problem, and yet she's supposed to be the hero. There's also a great deal of magical police involved, and spell information technology's important to articulate that the laws I'm sure reflect real ones that were institutions but unjust ones, it is still disturbing. The heroine arrests the hero multiple times in an attempt to advance her career without any sort of compunction as to whether or non she is doing the word-perfect thing. And let Maine summarize their relationship:
I'm arresting you.
I'm arresting you again.
I'm arresting you again and you'atomic number 75 sentenced to death, but I am besides, and so I'm suddenly happening your side because I don't want to die.
I love you.
That is it. Beautiful flimsy writing, awful and distasteful characters. Envisage a watered down Dolores Umbridge as the leading of a philander film and here you are. The whimsy of the moving picture is the creatures, and somewhat their caretaker, but it's a heavy-bimanual love the surround cautionary narration. I appreciate the message merely wouldn't necessarily pay for a movie to say it to me for an hour or more. I wanted to alike IT, and in many a ways I do, but I'm also disappointed. The only if real value this has is a good continuation of Beset Potter and that world, for which Harry Potter fans will always be desperate for any scrap of. This could have had more effort, thought, and cheer put into it and been a more interesting and beloved motion-picture show. A number like cashing in on the popularity of previous efforts, perhaps like The Hobbit films compared to Lord of the Rings.
Newt did a good business of relatably portraying a person external of typical behaviors, Queenie and Jacob were relatively pleasing as laughable relief, and the Javert of the MACUSA Tina Goldstein did a great caper being unlikable in whol ways.
